I painted this one " Last light on the Roses by the gate" after a plein air trip to Colo river..we had been out all afternoon painting by the beautiful river and we came across the lovely old gate on the way back to our accommodation..we all piled out of the car and got some photos as the last light of the day lit up the roses and gate..

I joined this life drawing group a couple of years ago to brush up on my figure drawing skills . I thought that it would help me with my portrait painting and indeed it has but I continue to go as I really enjoy the company of the others in the group. We are holding our annual exhibition next week. Perhaps if you will be in the wollongong area you might like to pop in to have a look. The Old Courthouse is opposite our beautiful harbour area and is well worth a visit..

This painting was inpired by my old English Farnell . Teddy and I have been together since I was a baby and is top bear in the pecking order of my collection..A little worse for wear and sporting a few battle scars but still very much loved . Teddy still has the remnants of pink lipstick on the mouth and a bit of a grease spot on the back where she was caught under the back wheel of my tricycle ...poor ted!!

Have been doing some early spring cleaning ..found lots of stuff that I had forgotten all about..side effect of being a bower bird to paint with the girls by the babbling brook later in the week ..yippee

the bubbling brook

I had a pleasant morning plein air painting at Minnamurra yesterday . A friend and I decided not to waste the beautiful weather and headed down to Minnamurra to have a look for good painting spots..We found this great place and soon got our easels all set up ..We each did a different view ..I did this one looking up river in acrylic while my friend painted the stunning view of the island just off the the river outlet to sea in watercolour..while we had a break we sat on a seat overlooking this spectacular view just soaking it all in and feeling lucky to be there ...the trip home via farmlands and over a bubbling brook was great for a photo oportunity too ..
